Carrie's Update & her plea for help

I Carrie am going to put it out there that I am in a time of my greatest need ever. I will then allow the Good Lord to fully wrap me in His sufficiency and help. Friday I went to the ER with excruciating back pain and after a CT showed I have a tumor pressing on my spine and some broken vertebrea at T-12 threatening paralysis, I was transported to Froedtert (bigger hospital). I've been out of the hospital since Monday evening and right back to work Tuesday morning. Ten radiation treatments have started for the tumor in my spine that has come very close to causing paralysis (not out of the woods on that one) and has fractured some vertebrae at T-12. Phew! My head is spinning.
I need a lot of prayer and will just bullet point some things below:
- Along with praying for healing these tumors, please pray just as much and maybe more fervently for complete bone healing. Without bone healing and with the tumor gone, my spine would collapse. Let's not go there.
- Peace and strength. I have been enduring a mammoth amount of stress, anxiety, and depression the last few weeks leading up to this back incident (post-oophorectomy). I also had a very bad fall related to a pretty severe panic attack a couple weeks ago so I'm also nursing those wounds on my legs yet. My cancer has always responded hugely to my emotions so I NEED to get that in check.
-I'm trying to work on getting counseling but there is always some kind of hitch and I'm cancelled or rejected or schedule is messy. Please pray that I put ALL my hope and trust in the Lord as Counselor, Friend, Healer, and Advocate.
- Finances. Arghh. I'm single. Working full-time. Lots of bills. I have gone nearly bankrupt trying to afford stuff on my own that only stressed me and progressed the cancer. Credit cards are out of control and now on forced on Medicare, I have a ton of out-of-pocket I didn't expect into the thousands. Plus, Medicare is playing a lot of games monopolizing what meds I can get...not based on need, but based on insurance decisions (yeah, that's wrong) This is along with a problematic car, school loans demanding their payback, and a new Naturopathic MD that insurance won't cover. I will be starting Vitamin C infusions next week and in faith will have to believe I can keep that up somehow. Stopping work is not an option because I can't live under a bridge on disability eating scraps. That's all been thoroughly considered already.
-This Natural MD is great with Integrative Cancer Care, but not cheap (Dr. Whitcomb at Brookfield Longevity). I just need to trust God will bring it. If you want to directly support my care at their clinic please call them and donate as you feel led to my costs there. 262-784-5300. Dr. Whitcomb will work with my conventional oncologist and he is very experienced and knowledgable. He has several women with Stage IV breast cancer thriving under his care.
- Wisdom with my conventional oncologist. I see her in about a week for direction. I don't have her take on things yet since the hospitalization so I don't know what she'll say. I'm going to listen and weigh out all my conventional options, once again, and hopefully there is something new and improved. Going back on chemo is a big possibility so pray that I used Wisdom and not stubborness or fear to make any decisions. I was almost free of cancer back when I did Taxol so that may be a good option along with the integrative stuff. Right now I need to get this cancer under control integratively and quickly. I NEED to stop striving, stressing, and going broke. I NEED to just rest in the Lord and trust Him with healing even if it means some sort of conventional in the mix. He will take care of all the needs. But I need to move in the direction He is calling me and be covered by prayer support. Some practical ways that can help:
- Gift cards for gas, Outpost, Whole Foods, Health Hut, Target, WalMart, etc. I don't eat out at restaurants or by "frivolous" things right now.
- Insight on how my Medicare works and how I can make it work better for me if you are a pro at understanding that system.
- Info about any really good, solid Christian counselors that will take my Medicare for payment.
- I realize that many of you don't know me and giving is not something you feel comfortable doing. That is totally okay. The prayers are so much more valuable right now. I am putting down a lot of pride coming right out and asking for financial help.
 I do wish I had something to offer or sell or time to do something where you can receive back from your giving, but I don't at this time or energy right now. I certainly will, as I always do for every penny given, pray the Lord bless your kindness. He has more to offer than I ever will. Many have given so much and I have not expressed my gratitude enough. I think often of you all and the love you have showed me. I'm struggling with just trying to survive daily, so please don't take my lack of acknowledgment personally. I am very stressed with many things plus being an introvert means I need good alone time (I'm easily panicked by too much people/noise/stuff). My social life has practically gone by the wayside given these circumstances, and I do apologize. Now here I pop up when I want something. I am truly sorry for that. I seriously do keep you all in prayer. I am so thankful to many that came alongside me. Some of you don't even know me! That's so amazing. I am so INCREDIBLY thankful.
Phew! Thank you ALL for your prayers. It has greatly helped. I shall not die but live to declare the wondrous works of the Lord. He is AMAZING.

She IS Family

Whoever created the online giving accounts and other social media fundraising is brilliant and as I browse through, I'm amazing to see the outpouring of gifts to help and support families in need.

Families hit hard by disease, death, and the bad storms of life. 

Then, look at Carries account. Its been several months and she's gotten three donors and raised a little over $100.00. 1% of goal. Thank you for reaching out. 

However, my analytical brain started working and I wondered why some accounts get more likes, shares and gifts while others do not. Is this a competition who has it the worst or best marketing? 

I see a cute baby or struggling couple with kids and I feel compelled to donate, as do many. But what do you think when you hear of a single person struggling?

What about the compassion and support for the single men and women? Who have no husband or wife to rely on, or to cheer for them. 

What about Carrie, my single sister in Christ? She has no one else but friends aka brothers and sisters in Christ. Because she's single, she has no one else to rely on but the Church. 

I analyzed a little bit more and stay with me I'll make my point soon. 

Our churches have moms groups, married groups, men's groups, 20-30 groups, senior group, where does the single person go? what group? When Carrie walks into a church and she's met with comments and questions "Oh, you're single" and "So, when are you going to get married?" And some times pure uncomfortable silence. 

Are people afraid of singleness? We're told by Paul that singleness is a gift. 

Yes, we have single people in our churches and they are valuable members of the church body but where does the over 30 single person go? Where do they fit in? Do we push away the singles to meet other singles and stay within their group? I'm not pointing fingers at any one particular church. I talking about the whole body of Christ-the Church.

Singles are welcomed in churches, they are encouraged to serve, and participate. But really where do they go for help? They look to the Body. 

I know Carrie's story because I've known her since we worked together at Care Net in 06. I know her passion for Romanians and missions, and her struggles with finances because of a string of storms, her medical appointments and scans, waiting for results, having doctors tell her negative news, the aspects of her life that she's shared publicly. 

My point, I look at the Church and what we are doing. I believe we are failing our single group. Let's squash any thoughts that its someone else's problem, or her family will help her. We are her family! She is our sister. The 20/80 rule shouldn't apply when one of our own is struggling.

God Heal Carrie Charity to hold Craft Fair Fundraiser

God Heal Carrie Charity holds its first Craft/Vendor Fair. Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Northtown Church, 7000 North 107 Street, Milwaukee. 9:00am-4:00pm. Admission is free, although a love offering encouraged at the door.
Over 20 vendors, are signed up and it’s going to be an exciting and fun event with a raffle. All table sales, and raffle ticket sales goes directly to Carrie and her fight with breast cancer.

About Carrie:
In 2011, Carrie was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer and was given about 18-24 months to live but has already outlived her initial prognosis and continues to get stronger. Because she has chosen a more non-toxic method of treatment, Carrie has been able to work full-time, and is active. Her bike rides take her up to 25 miles, and she hikes often. Since she does work, she does not qualify for many of the income based help, therefore making it a bigger challenge to pay her costly medical bills, and her newly changed diet of fresh and organic produce.

About the Charity:
Our goal is to walk along side our sister, encouraging her, while helping her financially, emotionally and spiritually. The charity consists of two of Carrie’s friends and the assistance of two Churches. We held our first Garage Sale fundraiser in September, raising almost $90.00. This will be an ongoing Charity, with many new and exiting events planned for 2015. Carrie's storm of trouble, one after another

After being misdiagnosed two times previously beginning in 2006, Carrie was diagnosed in the fall of 2011 with stage IV breast cancer that metastasized to her bones and liver. Right after diagnosis she began chemotherapy as well as a complete change in lifestyle habits including juicing and avoiding processed foods. Chemotherapy only worked temporarily and the cancer appeared to become much more aggressive and spread further after chemo treatment and hormonal treatments. She then hired a naturopath physician and consulted with a naturopath and natural M.D. as well as performing her own ongoing research of scientific literature. With help from her naturopathic physician, Carrie has restored her immune system, is balancing her endocrine system (cancer is very highly estrogen and progesterone positive), has a good quality of life, and has a renewed hope in healing from the Lord.

Conventional cancer treatment is rarely curative at stage IV and her oncologist alone can only offer palliative care in hopes of extending her life. However, the care her doctor is offering has many debilitating side effects and can even be lethal. Carrie has already outlived the median survival of 18 to 24 months and has maintained full-time employment during most of her cancer treatment.

Because she is the sole provider, working is a necessity in order to pay rent and bills, afford quality foods, supplements, insurance and co-pay costs, and natural treatments including doctors not covered by insurance. Disability payments would reduce her already modest salary by more than half so that, already attempted in the past, is not an option right now. Due to being employed, Carrie is very limited for resources to help her financially and practically. On July 18, 2014 she began a new chemo which is expected to be a lot gentler than the typical chemo drug along with some natural treatments from her ND.

Carrie’s naturopathic physician has been great at providing her quality care, wisdom with supplementing, accountability in persevering, and a great listening ear. Her rates are very reasonable, but not covered by insurance. Also, Carrie has been prescribed scientifically-backed cancer treatments such as Modified Citrus Pectin which costs approximately $100 a month. She has been prescribed other non-toxic treatments that are paid for out of her pocket every month. These natural treatments have done wonders at keeping her blood work looking great and mitigating any treatment side effects. Please consider helping with these NUTRIENT and NON-TOXIC THERAPY COSTS.

Some ways you can help is by PRAYING in faith and according to the word of God. The Lord has given Carrie many dreams for a future life in mission work. Right after her first chemo treatment, Carrie left for Romania for two and a half months to selflessly serve the Lord in a spiritually dark climate. Her desire is to return there in the near future.

Thank you so much for taking care of the needs of this true fighter. Your help will free Carrie from the anxieties and extra work hours needed to cover all the overwhelming expenses she is facing in the midst of a serious crisis.
